The First Stick

Oregon's rec market was two years old and already a mess.

The simplest product in cannabis, a pre-rolled joint, was still a gamble. Burns even? Maybe. Stays lit? Hopefully. Same experience as the last one? Nobody could promise that.

STICKS could.

One gram. A hemp cone. Oregon flower. Nothing complicated. Just a pre-roll that showed up the same way every single time. That was the whole bet.

It paid off. They made them by the millions.

Then came the M&A. What had been locally owned and locally loved started to look like just another corporate cannabis company.

Going public was supposed to be the moment.

It wasn't. The company sold. The sale was supposed to make everyone whole.

It didn't.

The brand that regular Oregon smokers knew, bought, and trusted was now someone else's to run.

The relaunch wasn't a rebrand. It was a correction.

Clear packaging. Honest product. Strain names that meant something to Oregon, not lifted from somewhere else. Bandon Gold instead of Acapulco Gold. Mt Hood Magic instead of a generic sativa. PDX Diesel instead of NYC Diesel. Cascade Crisp, named for a mountain range every Oregonian has driven through and looked at their whole life.

The message got simple again.
